Chapter 94: The Best Job Ever

Hey Guys,

This week on YouTube I did some tours of the Hotels I've stayed at over the last month:
Today I thought I'd tell you about the best job in the world, which unfortunately came to an end this week (Well, at least for now).

As you know, I've spoken about HumanUtopia a lot on this blog and on my YouTube channel before and so I won't fill you in on all the details of what they do, however, I will talk you through what I've been up to this summer.

At the very beginning I got to visit Neale-Wade Academy in March(The place, not the month) to complete the heroes HARmony Camp training ready for their camp at the end of Summer, It was lovely to meet such a talented and funny group of kids who are truly incredible people who I know will go far.

After that I got to visit Elm Green School in West Norwood for a couple to days to experience a HARmony camp and it was some of the most fun I'd ever had, I got to really experience what it was I was doing this summer and I got to join in and get on a proper trampoline for the first time in about 5 years. This camp really set me up for the next two and it helped me to know exactly how it should go.

I was then at Shelfield Community Academy in Shelfield, this is an awesome school and I think it may have been my favourite camp, the heroes and the kids were all absolutely incredible and the staff were so helpful and enthusiastic. The instantly fell in love with the design and layout of the school and because of that may get to have some work experience there in the next year, so watch this space.

Lastly, I returned to Neale-Wade to complete the run of camps this year and it was great fun, it was more challenging than the others but certainly not worse, I had so much fun and really enjoyed my time with the young people there.

I really do hope to work with them again next year and hope I'll get to see even more schools because It's been an absolute blast.

Until Next Time,
Stay Happy,
Do Something That Makes You Happy,
And Goodbye.

Chapter 93: Heroes!

Hey Guys,

So this week on YouTube I introduced you to some of my biggest heroes and inspirations:

I thought I'd accompany that with saying why it is that my heroes are celebrities. Let's say, there is a room full of people and they all need to answer the question 'Who is your hero?', Lots will say family members, usually one of their parents or quite often a grandparent; Some will say friends or colleagues, possibly even a boss and then some will say a mentor, teacher or other professional role model. The people, however, that don't seem to come up as often as expected are celebrities, this could be because many people don't agree with the celebrity status or because celebrities almost feel like characters and therefore are not achievable goals.

The reason my biggest heroes are celebrities is because they have succeeded, they've got to where they wanted to be and, for me, that shows that it's possible. I could use family or friends or mentors as heroes, but more often then not, they've given up on their dreams or haven't got to exactly where they had hoped and for me that is not showing that you can get to where you want.

Of course, I look up to the family, friends and mentors in my life, but mainly to see the mistakes they've made as more of a learning curve than an inspiration or hero.

Until Next Time,
Stay Happy,
Have Heroes,
And Goodbye.

            Chapter 91: Ventnor Fringe

            Hey Guys,

So, This week, I kinda vlogged some of Ventnor fringe (And the Cowes Week Fireworks), see that here:

This week I thought I'd talk to you about what the Ventnor Fringe is, and what I did there this year.

Ventnor Fringe is the Island's answer to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it gives local musicians, actors, dancer, artist and spoken word performers (amongst others) to perform to an audience, to test material, to sell their product and to showcase their completed work, it also attracts bigger names.

This year, I wasn't a performer but I was in fact doing the tech for Olly Fry's show, 'I, Hooky' which you can see some of in this weeks video. I also got the chance to see a music set from Tim Arnold, an ex-contestant on The Voice UK and an established musician in his own right, also known as The Soho Hobo and good friends with Ricky Wilson and Iggy Pop and an ex-partner to Eastenders' Jessie Wallace, it was a great gig and he was supported by two island artists so there was a nice mix of sounds, I also got to meet him afterwards which was pretty cool, got a selfie and my album signed. I also had the opportunity to meet my friend Andrew who recently published his own anthology, which I am now the owner of (and it's signed) - You can see some of his stuff on his blog Here.

In addition to The Ventnor Fringe, this week was also Cowes Week, The worlds largest sailing event, it's been great seeing lots of my friends and spending lots of time at the beach, I also got to meet Nick Knowles from DIY:SOS, lots of the National Lottery games and Perfection which was really nice. The fireworks at the end of the video were from the Annual Cowes Week Display.

All in all this week has been really cool and I'm looking forward to getting back to work again soon.

            Until Next Time,
            Stay Happy,
            Watch Something Live,
            And Goodbye.
